Principal's Message

Grizzly Parents and Families,

Welcome to the 2023-24 School Year!

The school year is off to a great start. It has been great to welcome new and existing students back on campus after the summer. As I had stated at the Back-to-School-Night, our goals for this school year are to improve attendance and dig into our academics. We need our students here at school every day to learn. One of the ways we are working on our goals is by getting the students connected with evening and after-school activities. We had our first family event and truly felt our families and students were feeling the connection. We are currently planning with our staff, PTA, and teachers to continue to bring activities to the campus to continue connectedness.

This school year, we will continue to develop our Grizzly Great expectations. We held our first expectations assembly for all grade levels. This is where students learn about the expectations for the class, the playground, the restrooms, and on campus. We are working this year to provide students with assemblies to help reinforce the expectations the teachers and staff have for your students. As the year progresses, students will be asked to help us with creating videos about following the expectations on campus.

Students are rewarded monthly by being entered into a drawing and receiving a prize. Below are the character traits and expectations of what it truly means to be Grizzly GREAT. Please encourage your students to follow these character traits at school and in the community.

  • G: growth mindset
  • R: respectful
  • E: engaged
  • A: act responsibly
  • T: treat others with kindness

I look forward to a great year of watching your students grow academically, socially and developing their character.

Sincerely,
Amy Pry, Principal

Assistant Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year, Grizzly Students and Families!

I am excited to be returning as your Highland Grove Assistant Principal.  I can't wait to continue building on the wonderful accomplishments our students achieved last year.

I remain committed to getting to know each and every student and family in our Grizzly community personally.  I fully believe these connections help our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally, and make their school experience more enriching. New families to Highland Grove and those returning that I have not had the opportunity to speak with, please feel welcome to introduce yourself at any time.

Our priority is to provide each student with the support and resources they need to be successful.  We have a wonderful group of teachers and support staff to help guide our students toward college and career readiness.  As partners in your children’s education, we welcome your thoughts and input as to how we can improve their time here at Highland Grove.

We have set a number of goals this year, including improving our already strong attendance rate.  Students learn and develop better when they attend school daily and on time.  We are also continuing to provide our students with positive behavior strategies to support their social and emotional well-being.  Creating a safe and welcoming environment to learn and grow results in greater self-confidence, self-efficacy, and achievement.

I look forward to speaking with all of you.  You will find me greeting families before and after school daily and at all our school events.  Please also feel free to visit me in the office anytime.  I value the opportunity to connect with you.

Here's to a Grizzly GREAT 2023-24 school year!

Michael (Mike) Laba
