Principal's Message

Grizzly Families,

Welcome to the new school year. I wanted to share some of my experiences and how I came to be the honored principal at Highland Grove. I have been in education for over 20 years now. I have been a preschool teacher, special education teacher, and general education teacher. I had started in education starting as an aide in classroom and have worked my way up administration. With my expertise, I walk parents through the education process in hopes of building the future for our students.

Each year, we are excited for students to return. Highland Grove is a great community where we want to ensure student success. In order for student success, we need open communication and collaboration. I aim to serve all students and families who walk through the door.

Here at Highland Grove, we have 5 expectations we ask our students to follow. We are Grizzly G.R.E.A.T.

G is for Growth Minded
R is for Respect
E is for Engaged
A is for Act Responsibly
T is for Treat Everyone with Kindness

I look forward to working with students and families. Welcome, Grizzlies, and Let's be Grizzly GREAT!

Assistant Principal

Dear Highland Grove Families,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! It is with great excitement that I write this letter of introduction as the new Assistant Principal of Highland Grove Elementary. I look forward to being a part of the Grizzly Great family and supporting Mrs. Pry and the rest of the Highland Grove staff, students, and families. Our theme this year is “Grow with Highland Grove” and I know that our amazing staff will dedicate their time and knowledge to help our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Although I am new to administration, I am bringing many years of experience in education. I spent 15 years teaching at the elementary level, 11 years as an intervention teacher, and 2 years as an instructional coach guiding new teachers. I earned my BA in Liberal Studies at the University of Redlands, my Masters in Administration at Cal State San Bernardino, and most recently, a certificate in Reading and Literacy at USC. I have a long time connection to Redlands and Highland and hope as I get to know all of our families that you will see me as a resource and partner in your child’s growth.

I believe strongly in Highland Grove’s mission that all children can learn when we provide a positive, safe, and constructive learning environment and that we need to work collaboratively with our colleagues, students, families, and community to achieve this goal. I invite all of you to stay or become involved in our Grizzly Family through volunteering, PTA, School Site Council, or any of our other parent advisory committees. Please feel free to reach out to me to introduce yourself, or with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have.

I hope to see your students at school everyday as we embark on another Grizzly Great school year!

Respectfully,
Jennifer Knecht
